Overview Reviews
Crispy Bamboo Village, a gem in New York's bustling culinary scene, offers no-frills, delicious Asian fusion takeout that hits the spot every time. For over 15 years, locals have raved about its reliable comfort food—think beef with broccoli and wonton soup. The cuisine is familiar yet consistent, making it the perfect choice for those craving traditional American-Chinese fare.
While the ambiance leans heavily into practical takeout vibes, customers appreciate the cleanliness of the open kitchen and prompt service. It's worth noting that the staff may come off as transactional; however, many agree that this is typical of small, community-focused establishments. As one reviewer aptly put it, it’s “not an IG foodie moment,” but rather a place to enjoy comforting meals without the fluff.

I've been going to this take-out Chinese restaurant for over 15 years. Their food is always spot-on. I order only lunch as I work (not live) in the area. I call it in, it's always ready when I get there. My only complaint is that they don't deliver and don't do UberEats or DoorDash. They should, but maybe they don't because with just one or two cooks, they may not be able to handle the volume.
Keeping this very simple. This is an old school, simple Chinese takeout place. Not a restaurant. Not an IG foodie moment. Not an "experience ". Read it again - old school take out. Periodt. Food: It's good, tasty and consistent. Never greasy which is a huge plus. Not fancy or fusion. The normal suspects at a place like this - sesame chicken, wings, boneless ribs (what is that btw?), fried rice, wonton soup, beef & broccoli. You get the gist - it's American Chinese food. If you want anything remotely new or "authentic", go to Flushing or maybe a hole in the wall spot in Chinatown. This is straight comfort food. Service: I've heard people complain that they are rude or cold at best; racist at worst. Not true. At all. They are polite and quick. They are Chinese and culturally are transactional with persons outside of their community. Plus, they are running a takeout business. Get the order, turn it around quick, toodles. Nobody has time for the warm and fuzzies. Stop the nonsense. They have been in the neighborhood a long time and survived CoVid. Let's take the small wins and move on. Ambiance: There isn't any. It's a takeout place. So expect the bullet proof glass and transaction doors. I get the need to be safe. Most importantly, the kitchen is in plain view and is always - ALWAYS - very, very clean. That is all the ambiance you need from a takeout spot. As always, please continue to support our local, small businesses in the community and stop using Uber Eats, etc. when possible. The margins are brutal on the business.
Simple Chinese food, cash only, got the beef and broccoli and Chow fun. Just what was expected, will keep on short list for when craving Chinese food. Service was prompt and ambiance was a typical pickup spot.
always been reliable and good. i get their general tso! delicious, quick and friendly.
Best local Chinese food hands down. Delicious, cheap and huge portions. Stop being fucking rude to these people for no reason!!
Always been a great restaurant with great food. Clean place as well. I just wish they delivered. Even though I live a block away lol
Cleanest cheap Chinese takeouts so far. Grease is always an issue with chinese takeouts (old, too much or both), not with this one. Consistent over the years.
have been coming here for the better part of 15+ years and Shirley and Michelle and the other cooks never disappoint. Never have i had a bad experience here. Only thing i cannot stand is that they don't deliver, but other than that we are straight. 5 Stars
Crispy Bamboo Village is hands-down the bet takeout food in the area. It's cheap, absurdly tasty, and reliable. It gets busy during peak dinner hours on Fridays and Saturdays, so if you don't want to wait for your food you should call in your order and roll in 5-10min later. Doing laundry around the corner? Pop over during the wash cycle to pick up a meal, bring it back to the 'mat, and be the envy of all. Coming home exhausted from a long day at work? Pick up a filling take out dinner and eat it from a real plate while you watch Netflix because you're an adult dammit. The menu is the standard extensive American Chinese Food one you'll find at any takeout spot, but if you want some other combination of ingredients Crispy Bamboo Village will do it! I swoon for the fried tofu, but don't love mixed veggies (especially when it includes carrots), so I usually order it with broccoli instead, and often add mushrooms too. The brown sauce ties it all together into an addictive but satisfying dish, and the portion is huge. It runs $8 total, which feels like a steal for the amount of happiness it brings me. My non-vegetarian roomie hasn't had good experiences with the wings, but Mardory-Yelp-Queen-of-Harlem says they're great! So maybe you should find out yourself, or maybe you should get the crispy tofu and ascend on their fluffiness directly into bliss. Cash only, no delivery.
Best chinese food option for the area. They are quick, as clean as it gets and not greasy! Flavor is spot on and that goes for the vegetable and tofu dishes as well. Call ahead to get your food faster as everyone knows this is the best option so it tends to get packed.
